Why did you join Circle K?
One morning I was walking back to my freshman dorm room and on the way encountered about 20 bright flyers posted on everyone's door.  After noticing random K's chalked all over the diag and then seeing the same sign on the flyers, I stopped and actually read one.  After attending mass meeting and joining a committee, I realized that Circle K was probably the best organization that I could have walked into (literally).  I have met some of the most loyal, entertaining, and passionate people who I would not have been lucky to know otherwise and through my college years, Circle K has remained one of the few dependable things in my life.

Funny Circle K Story:
For our installations, all committees have tasks that they've been assigned through the years.  I was mentorship chair and traditionally, Mentorship is assigned to decorate the room for the night.  Amy and I (our fabulous committee of two) were quite disappointed and frankly astonished to find out that "decorate" only meant get tablecloths.  But, we ignored tradition and decided to get in my car and go on a hunt for a party city.  We ended up finding a Party America somewhere on the outskirts of Ann Arbor and spent much longer than necessary in the aisles coming up with a theme for installations and finding party favors to match.  We even bought ourselves black top hats with white beads after we decided that the theme would be rock star classy.  The looks of everyone's faces at installations when they saw our theme "decorations" were priceless.

Why did you join Circle K?
I joined Circle K because I had heard a lot about from a friend who was a member. She asked me to go to the fall mass meeting. I was amazed at the size of the meeting, how much fun the members made it, and how much fun they were having. I had been a part of other service organizations before, and I knew that there were plenty of organizations out there to join but I knew at that first meeting that this club was for me.

Funny Circle K Story:
I always try and get at least one other person to come with me to Motor Meals because with a little help, the project goes much faster. Also, I've found with another person there it's much easier to NOT lock your keys in your car... which I've done. The residents of the apartment building brought out coat hangers and cell phones and were all very helpful, and kept me company until my extra keys arrived a half hour later. The residents there still give me a hard time about it, and I'm usually greeted: "Hey, ain't you that girl that locked her keys in her trunk?"

Why did you join Circle K?
I joined Circle K because I was in Key Club in high school and as an out-of-state student who didn't really know anyone at Michigan my freshman year, I knew I would find friendly and nice people at Circle K. Of course I was right and met a lot of great people and did fun service projects which made me stay in Circle K.

Funny Circle K Story:
At the Chair retreat we had to come up with an adjective that started with the same letter of our first name for our nametags. I was having trouble coming up with something creative so Nick helped me and suggested "Guggenheim Grace." I obviously pointed out "Guggenheim" was not an adjective and gave him a look that suggested his adjective was ridiculous and this upset him so from then on he has called me "Guggie" (short for Guggenheim). Because he had a ridiculous nickname for me, I had to come up with one for him so he now goes by "Buttface."

Why did you join Circle K?
I love doing service and I've made so many great friends through Circle K.

Funny Circle K Story:
On the last Circle K Ski Trip a huge group of us crammed into one room and played Cranium. The longer we played, the game became louder and more out of control. I think we probably kept half of the hotel awake!

Why did you join Circle K?
I joined Circle K because I participated in Key Club in high school, so I liked service and I wanted to continue that in college. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first joined but I've found an awesome club full of amazing people.

Funny Circle K Story:
On the day of the OSU vs. Michigan football game, a group of us went to the VFW Home for the families of veterans of war. We helped out there, but all of us were going a little crazy in anticpation of the game. A day of fun and hilarity ensued. It was just overall good times but I'm sure that the other people helping out thought we were all a little crazy. At least we proved that Circle K could still do amazing service, even in the face of the best football game in years.

Why did you join Circle K?
I wanted to meet new people and to spend more of my time doing community service.

Funny Circle K Story:
Last year while we were assembling the pregnancy packets, we started singing funny songs about the packets topics to make the time go by.

Why did you join Circle K?
I joined Circle K because I loved that it combined both service and socials. It’s awesome to have a huge variety of service projects to choose from, but it’s also really cool to be able to make such awesome friends!

Funny Circle K Story:
Last year during Motor Meals, Zina and I went into a house to deliver meals and the burglar alarm went off. It kept repeating, really loudly, “Leave now, the cops are being called!” and we couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. It went on for about ten minutes before we got it to stop, and the whole time I was worried that the cops were going to show up! At the time, it actually wasn’t that funny, but in retrospect it always makes me laugh.

Why did you join Circle K?
My sister first introduced me to Circle K, because she was an active member at the Marquette University chapter. After all the stories she told me, I decided to check it out for myself...and I loved it!

Funny Circle K Story:
DCON was really the first time when I got to meet and get to know a lot of the other kids in Circle K. To my pleasure, Amy and I instantly clicked especially when it came to our Greek groups for the convention, bouncing ideas off one another and making crazy dance moves. The rest of our group (who were from other schools) kept asking us if we were really good friends...and we were just like actually "we just met!", but I don't think they believed us!

Why did you join Circle K?
I wanted to join an organization where I could help out in the community while meeting new people and Circle K came through with everything I had hoped for. At the first meeting I attended, I felt as though I was already a part of the club since everybody was so friendly and welcoming. There are tons of projects that members can volunteer in and it just feels great to help the community with other students that are just as enthusiastic.

Funny Circle K Story:
There are so many great stories from Circle K, especially from the retreats. Every committee had to come up with a short skit describing what they were working on. My committe chair and I ended up coming up with a ridiculous drama about a relationship with the database. I didn't realize when we were going to start but when she slammed the door and yelled at me, I almost forgot that it was a part of the script. I don't know if anybody else noticed but now the story is here I guess they do.
