What is Circle K?
Meet the Executive Board...

Why did you join Circle K? Unlike most people, I wasn't a
service-oriented person in high school, but after doing a few service
projects through Circle K, I was addicted! Not only is it fun to do service,
it's rewarding to see other people benefit from your time and sometimes just
your presence. Although service was the reason I initially came to Circle K,
I stayed because of the awesome people who welcomed me into the group!
Funny Circle K Story:
We were at Pizza House for one of the post-meeting socials, and somehow the
topic of pronouncing Indian names came up, so I revealed that my name isn't
actually pronounced the way that everyone says it. This created quite a reaction,
and Megan asked me to pronounce it correctly, so I did, and she tried to repeat
it--but she didn't pronounce it correctly, she simply screamed ZEIL incorrectly.
Someone kindly pointed out that screaming something doesn't make it sound right;
regardless, whenever some people see me, they scream ZEIL!

Why did you join Circle K? I was involved in my Key Club all through high school.
I loved the opportunity to build leadership skills, do community
service, and meet some awesome people along the way. When I found out
that the University of Michigan had such an active Circle K Club, I was
really excited to have the opportunity to continue doing service in
college. I was worried that the club was too big and that it wouldn't
be as rewarding as Key Club had been for me in high school. I was
completely wrong and the amazing service projects I've gotten to
participate in and the great people I've met have kept me here.
Funny Circle K Story:
At Leadership Connection last spring a bunch of us were
sitting around not really doing much. Lindsay held up the leaf she had
been holding and asked, "Do you dare me to eat this?" Of course I dared
her and she quickly ate the small maple leaf. She immediately worried
about getting sick and breaking her streak of throwing up only once
since 6th grade. She survived and made it her mission the rest of the
week to get as many people as possible to eat a maple leaf. By the end
of the week Nick, Stefanie, Phillip, and I had each eaten a leaf too

Why did you join Circle K? I was in Key Club in high school,
so I already knew a lot about this organization and the Kiwanis Family.
I went to the Mass Meeting my freshman year and knew that I would make
some great friends and lasting memories. It just felt right. And

Why did you join Circle K?
I joined Circle K to help serve the homeless in
our community, to develop my leadership abilities, and to make new friends.
Funny Circle K Story: While I have countless Circle K stories, some of the most
humorous memories I have are from the Committee Retreats. In particular,
last year our committee had to recount the tale of "If You Give a Mouse a
Cookie." We dressed one of our committee members up as a mouse and made him
recreate scenes from the book. Needless to say, when he was squeaking and
crawling around on the floor, the whole place turned into a laugh riot.

Why did you join Circle K? I joined Circle K after going to the Mass Meeting my freshman year.
Listening to the executive board talk about Circle K's accomplishments
within the community drew me in because I wanted to continue community
service in college. I was also impressed with how friendly and
passionate members were and I wanted to be a part of it. As each week
passed, I felt like I found my niche on campus and being a part of this
large organization has shaped who I am today.
Funny Circle K Story:
Every year, Circle K goes on a ski trip to Boyne and every year, we
stop at the outlet mall. This past ski trip Alisha and I decided to
become twins by wearing matching sweaters that we bought at the mall
the day before. All day at the lodge we tried to tell people we were
twins, but for some reason, not many people believed us. So now there
is an on-going joke about us being related. On this same trip, Matt
tried to eat a sandwich with one pound of bacon on it and there was
actually no snow at Boyne, so I have decided that this is the best
social because you never know what will happen.
