What is Circle K?

Large Scale Events

Large scale events are projects and events that take more time, effort, and planning than other service activities. Often it takes many months and individuals to plan and execute these events in order to be a success. Listed below are some of Circle K's previous large scale events and some that the organization will likely continue in the future. If you have an idea for an event that you would like to see happen, you can e-mail the Executive Board (ckiboard@umich.edu) and they can help you get one started.

If you would like to get involved with any event listed below, stay tuned for information at the weekly club meetings. You can also email the Executive Board or the respective contact for each project to ask for additional information.

Past Large Scale Events

CK Service Day (24 Hours of Service and Socials)
Since Circle K's mission focuses on service, the club provides an opportunity for the campus community to commit to doing service within a 24-hour period. In the past, we have painted a mural for an elementary school, held a bottle drive competition, knitted gloves for the needy, traveled to Detroit with Habitat for Humanity to work on two houses, and enjoy each other's company. Each year is different but equally amazing!
This amazing, fun day of service is put on by the Service Cluster. If you have any questions regarding the event please contact the Executive Board (ckiboard@umich.edu).

A Cappella Concert
For the past three years, Circle K has put on a benefit a cappella concert. This event involves many of the campus a cappella groups, as well as some from Pioneer High School and other universities. The themes have ranged from "American Idol"(2003) to "Friday Night Live"(2004) and "The Sweetest Thing"(2005). Each year, we have successfully raised over $3,000 that has been donated to different non-profit organizations in the Ann Arbor area.
This event is put on by the Fundraising Committee. If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact the Fundraising Chair (ckifund.chair@umich.edu).

Trick-or-Can
Every Halloween, Circle K goes trick-or-treating for canned goods. It is a ton of fun and we generally collect over one ton of food for Food Gatherers, an organization that provides food essentials to deserving families in the Washtenaw community. Come dressed up ready for fun, as we collect food for those who need it (you might even get some candy as well).
This event is put on by the Service Cluster, if you have any questions regarding the event please contact the Executive Board (ckiboard@umich.edu).

Book Night
Book Night was created for the children that participate in the Mentorship Program at Holmes Elementary School. We bring reading to life through a night filled with fun activities such as cookie decorating, crafts, games, and story-telling. Afterwards, each child gets to take home a book for him/herself!
This event is put on by the Service Cluster. If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact the Executive Board (ckiboard@umich.edu).

Charit-a-Bowl (Registration Form)
In 2005, for the fourth year in a row, Circle K held a bowling tournament. Teams paid a small fee to enter and compete against other teams in a single-round elimination tournament. All proceeds were donated to a charity chosen by the winning team.
This event is put on by the Fundraising Committee. If you have any questions about the event, please contact the Fundraising Chair (ckifund.chair@umich.edu).

Senior Prom
This dance takes place at the Ypsilanti Senior Center and there is even a live band! You can help with planning, decorations, or gathering prizes. We have put on the Senior Prom for the last four years in a row and it is always a big hit among the senior citizens.
This event is put on by the Service Cluster. If you have any questions about the event, please contact the Executive Board (ckiboard@umich.edu).

Do you have an idea that you'd like to see put into action? Is there an event that you know can be accomplished, but all you need is manpower? Do you need help organizing or executing an event on campus? If so, Circle K is ready to listen, to be engaged, and to act. Just email us at ckiboard@umich.edu
