Dance Marathon 2003

Dance Marathon is an organization that raises money for pediatric rehabilitation. Hundreds of dancers sign up early on in the year, and then work all year to raise money. On March 15th-16th the dancers, with the help of many moralers and volunteers stayed awake and on their feet for 30 hours. Circle K sent 16 dancers and countless Moralers to the Marathon this year.

Evan, Smwats, Emily, Justine, and Payal relaxing before the Marathon begins.

Justine and Payal eat Breakfast. Payal is probably about to say that I shouldn't take pictures of her while she's eating.

Don't mess with Smwats. 30 Hours? Bring it.

The final moments of sitting.

One of the DM families tells their story, and offers encouragement to the dancers.

The Michigan Marching band provides entertainment early on in the Marathon.

Jenny, Deepa, Nikki, Smwats, and Payal. Just a few hours into the Marathon.

Amazin' Blue gives a mini-concert.

Fast forward about 10 hours. Nikki gets a calf massage.

We are so productive! We spent free time during the first half of the Marathon working on the Circle K Scrapbook. The Scrapbook area turned into the Circle K hangout. John, Nikki, Deepa, and Smwats pose for a picture.

Jenny, Nikki, and John rocking out onstage.

Donkey Punch played... they were one of many groups to provide us with entertainment.

Jenny, Nikki, and John again.

Moraler Mike and dancer Deepa. It's like...2 am. Something late. Circle K brought an activity (Finger Painting and balloon animals) for dancers to do. The table became the new Circle K hangout.

Kabir visits, Payal Dances, Dan Morales.

Lynne (Moraler) and Christy (Dancer Captain) hang out at the activity table.

Justine, Amy, Jenny, Lynne, and Karla... about 20 hours into the Marathon...maybe. The dancers are not told what time it is.

Evan and Nikki...dance?

Almost Done! Right near the end, the Circle K dancers (as many as could be rounded up) posed for a picture in front of the awesome poster we painted.
