CALL TO ORDER, President Stefanie Theis, 7:10pm II. WELCOME to everyone, especially guests Don Kossick and Bill Tasch from the Ann Arbor Downtown Kiwanis and Dave Knapp from the OSU Circle K. III. HAPPY CENTS Happy Cents is a segment of the meeting when anyone can deposit change into our special "Jaria Jar" and have the opportunity to share something that makes them happy. This week, we heard that: <> Stefanie Theis is glad that Dave Knapp is visiting. <> Kristin Doyle is happy that Scott, her only committee member, is taking her place as Technology Chair next year. <> Zeil Shah's sister may have been awarded $50,000 for college. <> Alli Schaffner finished her Business School application. <> Amanda Yu's sister might decide to go to school here. <> Whitney McEachran is excited that Dance Marathon is this weekend. <> Heather Irelan is enjoying the weather and is attending the Run for Ronald on April 1st. <> Nick Hoffman's parents just got a puppy. IV. PROJECTS IN REVIEW ~*~ District Convention: Alli Schaffner told us about how fun DCON was despite not really knowing anyone beforehand. Not only did she make new friends, but she also attended service projects and a wild toga ball. ~*~ Kiwanis Meeting: Stefanie Theis told us about giving the Kiwanis President a hard time for mistakenly announcing to the membership that she was the Key Club President. V. SENIOR ACTIVITY Every year, it is a tradition that the seniors run a meeting before Installations, usually to recount funny memories and share inside jokes from the past four years. This year's seniors are: > Kristin Doyle > Caroline Froning > Lindsay Grude > Nick Hoffman > Phillip LaRue > Amy Mangieri > Stefanie Theis A few things we learned about the seniors: > Caroline was a Mathlete in high school. > Lindsay, Nick, Phillip, and Stefanie love to play buzzword bingo at various events and use buzzwords in everyday conversations. > Kristin's motto this year was "Can I have some committee members, please?" > Amy cannot morale at Dance Marathon because she feels uncomfortable caressing strangers. > Last year's board often played a game they called "Christmas," in which each player writes a word or phrase at the top of a long piece of paper, folds the paper over, and passes it to the next person so they can draw their interpretation of the word/phrase. This continues with alternating phrases and pictures until the end of the paper, which is usually so funny that they decided it was like opening Christmas presents, (hence the name). To indicate certain people in the pictures, a girl with a bun and a computer is used to show Stefanie, and a tool, specifically a wrench, is used to show Nick. > When Nick went to Italy two years ago, he sent the board and others ridiculously long emails with historical facts and figures about every city, building, and statue he visited. Needless to say, the board made fun of him for at least a year after. One particularly funny joke was the "Ann Arbor Update" parody emails Phillip sent in response to Nick's emails. VI. UPCOMING PROJECTS - Dance Marathon Moraling: Circle K has its own, shorter, moraling shifts for our Circle K dancers, and they really need everyone's support! Email Phillip (phillipl@umich.edu) to sign up for a slot. - Detroit Project Day: The deadline for signing up for DP Day is TODAY, so visit www.thedp.org to sign up. DP Day, held on March 31st, is about working alongside the residents of Detroit to clean up the city. This is a day-long event that ends with a rally in Stoepel Park and is always a lot of fun. My last minutes and last secret message EVER. How did the year go by so fast? I know some of my secret messages were kind of random, but I did that on purpose. No, really... I guess I will leave you all with deep thought to ponder: "As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more that a bunch of yelling and honking? Sometimes it seemed that way." ~Jack Handey Goodbye forever, people who read the secret message.
