CALL TO ORDER, President Stefanie Theis, 7:10pm II. WELCOME to everyone, especially guest Don Kossick from the Ann Arbor Downtown Kiwanis. III. HAPPY CENTS Happy Cents is a segment of the meeting when anyone can deposit change into our special "Jaria Jar" and have the opportunity to share something that makes them happy. This week, we heard that: <> Phillip LaRue was amused at Stefanie Theis' description of her word during the game Catchphrase. Her description was "a small murder" for the word "mutiny". <> Whitney McEachran was appreciative of Chris Corteg's donation to her Dance Marathon Fund. <> Alisha Opperman had fun at the Ferris Circle K interclub. <> Chris Corteg just found out that he will be able to live in Ann Arbor this summer. <> Gina Werner is going to the Pistons game tomorrow. <> Lindsay Nelson went to her first UM basketball game yesterday. <> Nicole Tyrna is in a good and got to eat cookie cake IV. MEMBERS OF THE MONTH The Members of the Month for February are: <> Gina Werner <> Charlie Goelz Congratulations! V. PROJECTS IN REVIEW ~*~ Kids Against Hunger: Jessica Kosteva told us about assembling and packaging meals on Saturday to aid the fight against local and global hunger. In just 1.5 hours they assembled 15,000 meals! ~*~ Mott Bingo: Stefanie Theis told us about playing picture BINGO with the adorable kids at Mott Children's Hospital on Sunday. VI. NOMINATIONS FOR EXECUTIVE BOARD The first round of nominations began tonight. VII. SOCIAL ISSUE OF THE MONTH The February Social Issue of the Month is Animal Cruelty. To demonstrate some of the issues being faced today, we watched a PETA video about inhumane animal treatment at an animal shelter. To learn about the Humane Society and its efforts to stop animal cruelty, visit their website at www.hsus.org. VIII. ACTIVITY We split up into groups for a fun activity that allowed everyone to get to know other Circle K-ers a little better. Each group created an imaginary animal and drew a picture to present. Don Kossick was our judge and chose the best creation. IX. UPCOMING PROJECTS - UMDM Skate Night: Skate Night will be Friday, February 2nd at 10pm. A group of Circle K-ers will be meeting at 9:30pm at West Quad to walk together. Admission is free, the first 250 people rent skates for free, and the first 400 poeple get free food. - GVSU 24 Hours of Service: GVSU will be having their 24 Hours of Service on Saturday. We will be helping with their bottle and pop can drive. - Eco-Phones Fundraiser: We will have a box at every meeting to deposit old ink cartridges and cell phones. Eco-Phones will recycle the ink cartidges and give the cell phones to people who need them. - Kiwanis Rummage Sale: The Kiwanis Rummage Sale is this Saturday at the huge two-story Kiwanis warehouse and will be a great chance to hang out with the Kiwanians. - Penny War: Starting next week, Circle K, K-grams, and DoRAK will be competing in a Penny War to benefit the charity of the winner's choice. The jar will be by the sign-in table at meetings, so bring your pennies! - LeadCon: LeadCon is Circle K's own leadership conference, which will be help on February 10th at the Trotter House on campus. It is open to all Circle K members in the Michigan District and will be a great chance to brush up on your leadership skills and network with other Circle K-ers!
