CALL TO ORDER, President Stefanie Theis, 7:10pm II. WELCOME to everyone, especially guests Don Kossick, Bill Tasch, and Kathy Barden Perlburg of the Ann Arbor Downtown Kiwanis. III. HAPPY CENTS Happy Cents is a segment of the meeting when anyone can deposit change into our special "Jaria Jar" and have the opportunity to share something that makes them happy. This week, we heard that: <> Lindsay Nelson made a bouquet as a birthday present for Whitney in her Practical Botany class <> Chris Corteg is excited to go to Love Pit this weekend <> Min Chong is participating in Reach Out and Read at hospitals <> Kristin Doyle is glad to be almost done with her "crazy week" <> Mary Lemmer just found out about The Scrap Box and is planning to set up a project with them IV. PROJECTS IN REVIEW ~*~ Tiny Tots: Phillip, Lindsay, and Stefanie taught toddlers about colors last week, and toward the end, the kids played games with a multi-colored parachute. The parents held up the parachute so that the kids could go underneath it, and for some reason this got them so excited that they started running around, jumping, and screaming. ~*~ Kiwanis Lunch: Zeil told us about having lunch at the Ann Arbor Downtown Kiwanis meeting on MLK day, where a Kiwanian who is one of three people left from his regiment in the Korean War talked about being a prisoner of war. His story was touching, and the food, as usual, was great. V. BYLAWS REVIEW AND ENDORSEMENT The Leadership Team proposed a number of changes to the club bylaws, which were handed out for the membership to review. We will be voting on the proposed changes on February 15th during the elections meeting. We also endorsed the members of the Leadership Team eligible for District awards. VI. KIWANIS FAMILY TIME Kathy Barden Perlburg presented our club with a check from our sponsoring Kiwanis club, the Ann Arbor Downtown Kiwanis. She and Don Kossick expressed thanks for everything we do. We are extremely grateful that our club gets such unprecedented support from our sponsoring Kiwanis. VII. SIM VIDEO The January Social Issue of the Month has to do with various disabilities and its surrounding issues. This week we watched Murderball, an inspirational story about a team of men with varying degrees of quadriplegia who play wheelchair rugby. VIII. DCON PRESENTATION Natalia Maska, our District Convention Chair, told us about this year's convention, which will be co-hosted by UM and EMU the weekend of March 16th-18th. We then watched a short video showcasing all the fun events from last year's DCON. IX. UPCOMING PROJECTS Before talking about each project, we played charades to guess what the project would be. Normally, this might be acceptable, except that the dryer hadn't stopped yet and Christie's clothes were still damp! My roommates and I contemplated a number of ways to get back at the girl, but couldn't bring ourselves to do any of them. Throwing her clothes on the floor or dumping them in the dirty sink was just too mean. Then we came up with a brilliant plan...Whitney and I ever so stealthily took her clothes out of the dryer and re-washed them. Maybe it doesn't sound brilliant, but it is. Not only did she have to re-dry her clothes, but there was also that minute or two of panic when she first looked in the dryer and thought someone had stolen them. And, what is she going to tell people? "No really, they were mad at me so they washed my clothes!" Yeah whatever, Crazy.
