HAPPY CENTS Happy Cents is a segment of the meeting when anyone can deposit change into our special "Jaria Jar" and have the opportunity to share something that makes them happy. This week, we heard that Whitney and the Fundraising Committee raised over $700 from the Buffalo Wild Wings fundraiser to benefit Mott Children's Hospital, Stefanie spent three days in Chicago with other Circle K-ers and had an awesome time, Kelly is excited to be back, Don is thankful that so many Circle K-ers helped out at the Kiwanis Holiday Sale, Chris had fun on the ski trip, Kristin made it to the meeting in time for the Birthday Competition, Jessica is happy to see everyone after break, and Phillip is excited about all the amazing things we are going to accomplish this semester. IV. MEMBERS OF THE MONTH The members of the month for January are: <> Shreyance Mandaliya <> Laura Grai Congratulations! V. PROJECTS IN REVIEW Mary Lemmer, Gina Werner, and Stephanie Upplegger talked about having a good time on the Ski Trip despite the warmer weather and lack of snow. Phillip told us about the interesting people at Sciencepalooza, including one mom who ate a biodegradable packing peanut despite Phillip's warning that they may not be edible. VI. BIRTHDAY COMPETITION Every month we have a friendly competition to recognize birthdays, and this competition celebrated January and July birthdays. Contestants were shown pictures of various places on campus, and the person to guess the most locations correct was the winner. Congratulations to Stefanie Theis for winning this one! VII. SIM ACTIVITY The focus of this month's social issue is disabilities, so to start off we heard a few facts and learned about the purpose of Dance Marathon from Steve Crompton. Circle K is entering Dance Marathon as an organization, so e-mail Stefanie Theis by January 19th if you'd like to join. After Steve's talk, we did an activity to illustrate some of the obstacles of various disabilities. VIII. UPCOMING PROJECTS LovePit, hosted by MSU, is coming up January 20th.
