CALL TO ORDER, President Nick Hoffman, 7:10 pm II. WELCOME Welcome to everyone, especially our guests Don Kossick and Bill Tasch from Ann Arbor Downtown Kiwanis. III. HAPPY CENTS Happy Cents is a segment of the meeting when anyone can deposit change into our special "Jaria Jar" and have the opportunity to share something that makes them happy. This week we heard that Mike Moses is happy to be selling tickets for Circle K's annual a cappella charity concert; Kristin Doyle is thankful that her stressful week is finally over; Don Kossick was excited to see that the front page of the Community Life section of the Ann Arbor News ran an article on our mentorship program with Holmes Elementary School in Ypsilanti; Arkisha Howard was pleased with the "A" she received on a practice exam; Nick Hoffman is proud of Suruchi Lall for having recently learned how to whistle; Phillip LaRue was thrilled about his summer internship offer from American Express and he acknowledged that his involvement with Circle K must have helped him get the job. Also, Don Kossick extended members an invitation to the Kiwanis meetings during lunch on Mondays, and Ashley Rowe and Zeil Shah presented a love poem to the Children's Service Committee and the Executive Board asking them out on a "date". IV. MEMBERS OF THE MONTH Every month Circle K honors 1-2 members who go above and beyond in some way to make a difference in the club and in the community. Congratulations to this month's Members of the Month, Matthew Boshoven and Manna Hara, for their excitement toward Circle K and their contributions to their respective committees. Every year on February 2nd I make sure to wake up early and turn on the news, hoping that Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow so that we will be blessed with 6 more weeks of winter. The funny thing is, you think I'm kidding but I'm not! So when the world's smallest and furriest weather forecaster saw his shadow around 7:30 this morning, I was quite thrilled that spring is NOT just around the corner! Anyway, those of you who have seen the movie Groundhog Day know that it is about a cynical weatherman who is forced to continuously relive the worst day of his life. If you could relive one day for the rest of your life, which day would it be and why? Send your response to groundhogday@umich.edu.
