CALL TO ORDER, President Nick Hoffman, 7:10 pm II. WELCOME Welcome to everyone, especially our guests Don Kossick and Bill Tasch from Ann Arbor Downtown Kiwanis. III. HAPPY CENTS Happy Cents is a segment of the meeting when anyone can deposit change into our special "Jaria Jar" and have the opportunity to share something that makes them happy. This week we heard that Zeil Shah was excited to see everyone at the meeting and she is looking forward to the tours of the Big House taking place the day before the Super Bowl; Stefanie Theis was happy that Kelly Cobb opted not to wear his favorite black cashmere turtleneck sweater and instead came in his second-favorite sweater; Amanda Yu was glad to be celebrating her three-year anniversary with her boyfriend back home; Megan Foley urges everyone to attend the Dance Marathon Charity Ball this Saturday at the League; and Amy Mangieri was happy to have eaten some ice-cream before the meeting and to see such a good turnout at the meeting. IV. PROJECTS IN REVIEW Amy Shatten talked about Love Pit, a District-wide Circle K event featuring service, food, and friendly competition. The first part of the day involved clearing a nature area of invasive plants, visiting with the residents of Riverview Nursing Home, and making Valentine's Day greeting cards. After the service projects, we returned to the Trotter House for dinner, competed in Jeopardy and karaoke, and had an award ceremony and dessert. Amanda Yu told us about the North American International Auto Show. Her highlights of the trip included checking out the new Saab convertible, hiding in the trunks of cars, and dancing alongside a digitized silhouette. V. ACTIVITIES: WHAT IS CIRCLE K? We spilt into groups and learned about the three tenets of Circle K: Service, Leadership, and Friendship. We also played service-themed Taboo, unscrambled leadership words, and found out how we were all "linked" to each other through our common interests. VI. "THIS IS CIRCLE K" VIDEO We watched a video to see more of what Circle K is and why people get involved and stay involved with the club. VII. COMMITTEE SYSTEM OVERVIEW Phillip LaRue explained the structure of Circle K's committee system and the application and interview process. There are eleven standing committees in our club and six of them currently have openings. If you have any questions about the benefits of taking on a leadership position within Circle K or if you would like more information about joining a committee, please e-mail Phillip at phillipl@umich.edu. VIII. UPCOMING PROJECTS Matthew Thomas talked about the Snow Removal Squad, a great project with Neighborhood Senior Services for anyone who likes to shovel snow, salt sidewalks, and talk with interesting and appreciative people. The Megan Foley told us about LeadCon, a leadership training conference on Saturday, February 11th at the Trotter House. This event is free for members of our club! The Fundraising Committee told us about the annual a cappella concert taking place on February 17th at Rackham Auditorium. Five a cappella groups will compete to win, and proceeds from the tickets ($8, on sale at next week's meeting) will go to a charity. OTHER PROJECTS: A Cappella with the Elderly~~~~~~~~Sat.
