IV. KEYNOTE ADDRESS Anita Bohn from the Ginsberg Center for Community Service and Learning talked to us about changing a life, changing ourselves, and changing the world. She shared anecdotes with us to show how much of a difference a person can make. V. LEADERSHIP TEAM We recognized each of the committees that make up our Leadership Team, including Children's Service, Elderly Service, Health and Disabilities, Hunger/Housing/Environment, Mentorship, Fundraising, Historian, Kiwanis Family Relations, Public Relations, Member Development, and the Service Director and Technology Director. This year we have 56 members in our committee system. VI. VETERAN MEMBER RECOGNITION In addition to the 102 members being inducted, we have 42 returning members in our club. There are 26 two-year members, 13 three-year members, and 3 four-year members. VII. NEW MEMBER INDUCTIONS Each new member received a certificate and Circle K pin. After everyone recited the Circle K Pledge together, the new members put on their membership pins as a symbol of their official induction into our Circle K club. We then fulfilled the U-M Circle K tradition of doing the Inductions wave! VIII. VIDEO We watched a video put together by the Historian Committee that highlighted some of our events and accomplishments as a club so far this year. IX. ADJOURNMENT Thank you again to everyone who joined us, and congratulations to our new members! Afterwards we went to The Earle Uptown for desserts and coffee. Our next meeting will be next Thursday, November 10th at 7:00 pm in the Wedge Room on the second floor of West Quad. ---THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN CIRCLE K--- * * * * * # # * MEETINGS: Thursdays, 7pm, Union * # # * "The greatest WEB PAGE: www.umcirclek.org * # # * service to E-MAIL: circlek@umich.edu * ### * yourself * # # * is service OFFICE: 4213 Michigan Union * # # * to others" HOURS: 2-5pm M-Th * # # * PHONE: 615-0523 * * * * ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The mission of the University of Michigan Circle K is: To develop leaders with a lifelong commitment to service ***** Secret Message! ***** Did you know that in the 1700's, "chocolate houses" (coffee houses serving only hot chocolate) were all the rage in England? Morals of the story: * Hot chocolate is a delicious and comforting treat. * You should come to Circle K's 24 Hours of Service this weekend. Let me elaborate, since Moral #2 may be slightly less clear than the first. 24 Hours of Service is a continuous opportunity to do service projects with Circle K and other U-M service organizations for a full 24 hours (9:00 am Saturday to 9:00 am Sunday), and two of the projects involve handing out HOT CHOCOLATE! So, clearly all you chocolate lovers will be there. And since no one doesn't enjoy the warmth and richness of hot chocolate, we expect to see everyone tomorrow at 24 Hours of Service!
