CALL TO ORDER, President Nick Hoffman, 8:10pm II. WELCOME to everyone, especially guests Don Kossick and Bill Tasch from Downtown Ann Arbor. Since this was the first meeting of the school year, the club needed to discover who had traveled the furthest this summer. Amy Shatten trekked Sweden and Norway while Amy Mangieri ventured to Italy. III. WEEKLY SOCIAL RECAP Megan Foley reviewed the pre-meeting social which took place at Noodles and Company. From 6:30pm to 7:45pm eighteen members ate together and shared their awesome summer adventures and wild tales together. IV. PROJECTS IN REVIEW What happened in Circle K this past summer? ~!~ International Convention Stefanie Theis explained that the Executive Board attended International Convention (ICON) in Greensboro, NC this August. The convention was spent getting to know our district board and other club officers as well as going to enlightening workshops and seminars. Our club received the following awards for the 2004-2005 year: 2nd Place - Single Service Award 3rd Place - Gold Division Club Achievement Award ~!~ Service on the Water Holly Templeton explained the Welcome Week service project and social twenty-two freshmen and twelve Circle K members went to Gallup Park to canoe and walk the park, picking up trash as they went. Highlights include an umbrella found by Nick Hoffman and an aquarium found by Whitney McEachran and Karuna Seshasai ~!~ Chelsea Kiwanis Sausage Truck Kelly Cobb explained in vivid detail the fun and adventures of working at the Chelsea Fair in the Chelsea Kiwanis Sausage Truck. As a brief recap, Phillip LaRue burned the popcorn, Megan Foley spilled oil in her hair and Kelly witnessed his first tractor pull and demolition derby! V. INTERROGATION BOX The Interrogation Box is a box where any member can submit any question they would like. At the meetings, members can volunteer to be interrogated. This week, we found out that when given the choice of being a hick, redneck, or hill-billy, Karuna Seshasai would choose to be redneck. We also learned that Lindsay Nelson's theme song is "Brown Eyed Girl," as suggested by the peanut gallery. VI. SUMMER RECAP In an effort to learn more about how great (or terrible) member's summer were, a ball was bounced around the room with questions written on it. Members had to answer the questions that touched their right hand. VII. ELECTIONS AND BYLAW CHANGES Due to a vacancy in the position of club secretary, elections were held at this first meeting. Stefanie Theis nominated Suruchi Lall and Megan Foley seconded. Circle K members unanimously elected Suruchi Lall as the Secretary for 2005-2006. Congratulations Suruchi! In addition, the club elected to change the club mission statement to state: "The Mission of the U of M Circle K is: To develop leaders with a lifelong commitment to service." If you choose to sign up to be a mentor, a weekly Friday commitment is required. It is being asked this year that interested mentors sign up early. The remaining 31% were either confused by the question or had other trival perferences.
