CALL TO ORDER, President Lisa Slominski, 7:10pm II. WELCOME to everyone, especially Mike Pearson, former UM Circle K president. III. YEARBOOK PICTURE At this week's meeting we had our picture taken for the UM yearbook. This might be a good year to buy one because the photographer from the yearbook said that this may be the last year the book is printed due to financial problems. IV. MEMBER OF THE MONTH Every month the club selects a "Member of the Month" from nominations made by members. The member of the month for October is Pam Handley, who was nominated by Phillip. Phillip came up to the front and explained why he nominated Pam for the award. V. BIRTHDAY COMPETITION Every month MDER runs a birthday competition for the members who have birthdays that month. This month's competition was a pin the tail feather on the turkey contest. Jennifer Parker was the closest, winning the competition for the month of November. She will take part in the finals at the end of the year. VI. STEREOTYPING ACTIVITY To introduce this month's social issue of the month, mental disabilities, MDER put together an activity for our club this week where all the members had a card taped to their heads which listed a particular mental disability. They then interacted with each other, not knowing what their own card said about them. After the activity MDER told us a few facts about mental illness and how it related to the activity. VII. UPCOMING PROJECTS ~-~APO Blood Battle~-~ The annual blood battle with OSU is now on! Whichever school donates the most blood wins the competition. This activity runs everyday until the 19th.
