Welcome Welcome to everyone who joined us this evening, especially to our Downtown Ann Arbor Kiwanis Advisor Don Kossick, Dexter Kiwanian Gerry Lutz and our district Assistant Administrator Sean Havera. Also in attendance were Linda Bodzin, our guest speaker from Holmes Elementary and Jenna Major and Anna Schultz from SERVE. III. Members of the Month Three members were recognized and presented with Stucchi's gift certificates for their outstanding enthusiasm and service in the month of September. Do you want to be a Member of the Month? - Join the Club Becoming an official member is easy. Simply pick up an application at any of our meetings, from our office or online and fill it out. Return the form, with the $40 dues, to any board member at a meeting or in our office. Please remember that the $40 dues goes towards district and international conventions and helps pay for supplies needed for the many service projects we do. - Sign Up for Projects You can sign up for projects at meetings or online at http://www.umich.edu/~circlek V. Committees Thank you to everyone who applied and congratulations to our new committee members! VI. Gandhi Day of Service Jenna Major and Anna Schultz from SERVE briefly spoke about the Gandhi Day of Service this Saturday. Visit http://www.umich.edu/~iasa for more information and to sign up. VII. Mentorship with Holmes Elementary We had the pleasure of having Ms. Linda Bodzin from Holmes Elementary talk with us tonight about elementary school children, our mentorship and social work in general. She spoke about how mentorship helps elementary school children improve academically and socially. Having a daughter who was a member of the U-M Circle K, Linda trusts that we will come out and help the students of Holmes Elementary. If you want to become involved please e-mail circlek@umich.edu. VIII. T-Shirts U-M Circle K is looking for new t-shirt designs. We broke into groups to come up with ideas. Each group was given a white t-shirt to draw their designs on. We then held a fashion show showcasing all of the t-shirt designs and our upcoming projects. The t-shirt design ideas are in the Circle K office. Come by and cast your vote for our next club shirt. IX. Upcoming Project Highlights - Wild Swan Theater ~> Oct. 4, 9:45am-11:30am We will be ushering for their children's play. The play is Peter Rabbit, and not only will you get to meet a lot of really cute kids, you will get to see the play for free! - Gleaner's Food Bank ~> Oct. 5, 12:30pm-4:30pm We'll be at Gleaners Food Bank, the biggest food bank in Detroit, sorting through food donations so they can be given to people in need. - Sequoia Place ~> Oct. 5, 9:00am-12:30pm Help distribute food to the residents of Sequoia Place. - Family Book Club ~> Oct. 7, 4:45pm-6:15pm We will be helping the Family Book Club put together book packages for the visiting nurses association. - Red Cross Disaster Response Room ~> Oct. 8, 12:30pm-5:30pm We'll be cleaning and inventorying this room for the Red Cross of Washtenaw County. - Dance Marathon Skate Night ~> Oct. 11, 9:30pm-11:30pm Come skate at DM's skate night at Yost. It's a lot of fun and your skating fee benefits programs geared towards pediatric rehabilitation. ** Sign up for these and many other projects online at http://www.umich.edu/~circlek X. Announcements - K-Kids We are looking for people interested in working with our K-Kids club. K-Kids is the elementary school branch of Kiwanis.
